Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"The place is clean and tidy, the atmosphere is comfy, but it gets stuffy around noon. During my visit, I had to wait and queue around 10 minutes for my dishes to be ready. Oh it's all self services. The Roti and its sauces are delicious, and the pricing is reasonable, as are the drinks. Well, at least in my opinions. Parking is limited, though, so I had to park my car at the roadside during my visit and then walk to the restaurant. Overall, I rate this place 4/5 stars now. I'd recommend it for those who like Roti Canai."
"Nice restaurant serving great variety of local delights. Nasi Lemak, Nasi dagang, Nasi goreng, roti canai with unlimited curry supply The crew were friendly and efficient. Clean and clear tables in seconds for new arrival customers."
"Nice place to visit that gives u the nostalgia vibes, food is ok. Parking for motorcycle not a problem however for drivers can be quite challenging."
"This is a roadside stall business. Clean, not dusty, at or above the level of the road, there are buskers some days providing music, you queue up, pay first then get your roti - their specialty - and various other snacks good for breakfast like pulut panggang & ubi. Get your classic Malay style teh & Kopi here. It’s a bit of an institution, the local community knows Onn’s. Seating here is comfortable. Place is popular on the weekends."
"My hubby and I really enjoyed our dining experience here. The ambience is simple yet so calming in the middle of the streets. We really enjoyed their food and drinks especially the roti jala and curry puff. Came in the afternoon so kuih was limited, will go earlier next time to try more. Price is very reasonable too."
"We came to Onn Kitchen JB for breakfast and was really impressed with the food and kampung-style ambience. The roti canai/prata is crispy outside, soft and chewy inside, and easily one of the better ones I’ve had in JB, especially with their dhal and sambal. Their (pre-packed) nasi lemak is very flavorful, with rich sambal and generous portions that make it very value-for-money. The menu is quite extensive, so there’s something for everyone. Service is fast and efficient and the self-service system (order and pay at the counter, then collect your food) keeps things moving smoothly. We also love that the atmosphere here is casual and breezy, so we were happy to linger and chat for some time even after finishing our breakfast. Roadside parking around the shop was convenient too, which made the whole visit feel easy and relaxed. The place has a relaxed, village-like atmosphere with outdoor seating under a big tree. Overall, highly recommended for a hearty, authentic Malaysian meal in JB."
"Quite a good place with lots of seating. Prata is ok. Nasi lemak is rm4, egg with ikan bills. Cheap and rice is fragrant. Overall 6 pratas and 2 nasi only rm29. Very affordable. Curry and chilli sauce also not bad. Can visit if around the area but not a must in my opinion. Opens as warly as 7.30am without queue."
"We came here for breakfast today after dropping off our son at playschool this morning. It’s been awhile since I came here but it was my wifes first time. We ordered 2 teh tarik, 2 roti kosong for my wife and 1 lontong basah for myself. You have to order/pay your food at the cashier and wait for your food with the exception of roti/drinks which you’ll have to go to another counter with your receipt to self collect. Thoughout the years, the ambience has become much nicer and it was getting more crowded by 9am. So do come here earlier. The roti is one the of the best if you are ever in JB. But the lontong was so so as the “soup” could have been thicker and more flavourful. Well, parking is an issue cos you’d have to park by the roadside beside someones house. Other than that, I’d recommend this establishment for your morning breakfast if you like malay local food."
